The building was erected in 1901 and purchased by Juan Bertrand Salses (Molins de Rei, 1854 – Genoa, 1936), an industrialist who lived at Paseo de Gracia, 109 (now Deutsche Bank and the German Consulate). When he died, he left the property to his son, Juan Bertrand Coma (Badalona, 1890 – Lleida, 1978), becoming part of his textile company on 27 February 1963. The firm was subsequently absorbed into the family business.
The building has been owned by the same family since 1901 and used entirely for rented accommodation and such activities as photography and cinematography.
The ground floor was designed to be reconverted into a cinema in March 1980.
The building was completely renovated in 2003, retaining the whole of the original façade on account of its historic and artistic value.
In April 2004, four floors of the building started to be rented out as tourist accommodation.
